Ghana 2022 Training Trip
Brian’s Story

My name is Brian Chupp and I live in Willmar, Minnesota with my wife Tre’Mia. I first met Soup and my wife on the same day in 2021 at Kids Across America Kamps. That was my first experience with the concept of disciple making and it has changed my life.

At first, I didn’t understand what disciple making was and how to be in the process, but I did know that God was telling me to follow no matter what that meant. The words of John 6:67-68 ranged in my head. If I don’t walk this path, where else would I go?
From that first time meeting Soup I was fascinated by his stories of traveling the world and growing the Kingdom throughout the globe. I wanted to be part of a trip in the future so when Soup gave me the opportunity to go with him to Ghana in December of 2022, I jumped at the chance. It was amazing to see the amount of planning and detail that goes into an overseas trip, and all the people in country who came together to make everything go well.

For this trip in Ghana, Soup talked primarily with a group of pastors and their wives. He spoke a lot about the importance of putting family before others. I could see as he spoke and engaged in conversation with the couples that this was the first time many of them had thought about some of these ideas. As the week went on it was amazing to see husbands and wives drawing closer together as they put into practice the wisdom Soup shared.
I personally wasn’t married at that time, but I still learned a lot on the trip about submitting to Biblical authority and how important it is to show affection to your spouse. I also had a lot of fun with Soup, Linda, and the team, as we got to tour several castles and a rainforest. I love any chance I get to watch Soup and Linda together. They’ve been married over 38 years and I like to see an example I can start to model in my own marriage.

Pastor Ben and his wife hosted us on the trip and Derrick was our guide. They were all so welcoming and kind and generous and Derrick was a lot of fun everywhere we went. Any questions we had throughout the week we knew we could always ask Derrick and he would have an answer.

I hope I get to go back to Ghana and see all my friends again.
